Evangelical Community Church, Melbourne (ECCM) was established in 1975 started from 4 faithful families. By 2005, there were 4 worshiping venues at Box Hill, Blackburn, Springvale and Geelong. Congregation during 2005 were around 1600 worshipers, with English, Cantonese and Mandarin services.
ECC Springvale was established in July of 1999. Prior to this date, the initial Chinese congregation started as a bible study group at Jenny Zhou's home in Frankston. This was followed by renting a local Australian church in Frankston for worshiping led by Rev Jian Ho. ECC then decided to plant a church in Springvale which led the Frankston congregation moving to the Boulton Road, Springvale for its worship venue.
In April of 2007, the high rents and the preparation to build its own place of worship led ECC Springvale to rent the Seventh Day Adventist's church as its worship venue. The Chinese congregation began to grow from the year 2000 base of 25 worshipers. In September of 2000, Charles Ho took up preaching duties as part his seminary course. After graduating in 2003, Charles Ho took over the Mandarin preacher roles and was ordained as a Pastor in 2008 before taking over as the Senior Pastor of ECC Springvale. Besides Chinese congregation, ECC Springvale also had English congregation and worship led by Rev Jian Ho until his retirement in 2008. Pastor Joseph Teo next took up the roles until 2010 when the current Pastor Peter Yip took over.
During the past 10 years or so, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, ECCS continued to grow. At the same period, the Chinese population around Fankston and the Mornington Peninsular increased substantially. After continuous prayers and the call to spread the gospel, in September of 2013, ECCS decided to plant a church at Frankston to be known as ECCF, the first Chinese church within that zone.
